Founder and Publisher of Mandarin Matrix, David has many years of publishing experience at a senior level. Prior to forming Mandarin Matrix he was Managing Director of Edinburgh Financial Publishing Asia from 1996 to 1999. Before working in publishing he served in the Royal Navy between 1983 and 1993.
Over the past 5 years, Dan has been involved designing and delivering a variety of education and language learning programs for youth and adults through his consulting company Economic Bridge.
Educated at the University of Utah and Tsinghua University in Beijing, Dan lived, studied and worked in Beijing for almost 10 years, learning Mandarin and founding several companies during that time.
Dan is excited to accelerate the path to fluency for young learners with Mandarin Matrix.
Dan runs the Mandarin Matrix North American operations and office in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Catherine Carlton is a City Council Member and former Mayor for the City of Menlo Park, a successful businesswoman, a wife and the mother of two children.
Before moving to Silicon Valley, Catherine lived in Hong Kong for over ten years, and was the managing director for Digital Island in the Asia Pacific Australia region, which was the largest data center company in Asia at that time. Catherine then founded and ran a China consulting business, Search Bank, before working to help develop eco-tourism lodges in the Amazon jungle of Peru. She married and moved to California in 2004.
Elected to the Menlo Park City Council in 2012 and serving as Mayor in 2014- 2015, Catherine also sits on the boards of the San Mateo Emergency Operations Committee, the California League of Cities’ Environmental and Public Safety Committees, the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County, and is a founding board member of Peninsula Clean Energy. From 2009-2012 Catherine served as was elected as Chair of the Junior League’s of California’s State Public Affairs Committee, where she authored a bill against human trafficking that was carried by Assembly Member Sandre Swanson and passed into law. In 2011, Governor Jerry Brown appointed Catherine to the California Commission for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a division of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. She was recently reappointed for a second term.
Catherine received her BA in Communications from Tulane University, and completed her MBA at the Cass Business School in London. She graduated as President of her class, with the Dean’s Honors.
Aisling is originally from Northern Ireland. Her career as a Food Technologist and latterly as Procurement Manager for several FTSE listed companies changed direction in 2008 when she relocated to Hong Kong. She has recently been promoted to Chief Operations Officer for Mandarin Matrix
Charles has had the chance to work in China, the United States, Hawaii and Hong Kong which has included launching a hospitality business in China and acting as marketing supervisor for a stationary trading company. This variety of work experience allows Charles to contribute to Mandarin Matrix with a perfect balance of productivity and fun.
